With our annual rankings, Financial Planning recognizes the industry’s top producing young advisors among wirehouses and regional firms.
Collectively, the Top 40 Advisors Under 40 for 2021 generated $167 million in annual production and oversaw $37 billion in combined client assets. Advisors earning a place on this year’s list came from nearly a dozen firms: Merrill Lynch; Ameriprise; RBC; UBS; Neuberger Berman; Morgan Stanley; JPMorgan Chase; Oppenheimer & Co.; William Blair; Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James; and Raymond James & Associates.
For at least the second year in a row , Merrill had the most advisors on the list, at 19, as well as the No. 1 advisor. UBS was second with nine advisors in the group.

First, an important note on methodology: Nominees for the rankings were 39 or younger as of Dec. 31, 2020, and were registered with an advisory firm in the employee channel. Production totals were used to determine the rankings. Nominees’ information was confirmed with their employers.
